LIFE OF DINAH
Twins
Dinah and Zebulun were twins born to their father Jacob and mother Leah.
She never married and had no children.
The daughters of Israel are not considered to be tribes.
Genesis 34:1-31
Dinah is Raped
Dinah went out to see the daughters of the land. When Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he raped her and fell in love with her. Shechem asked his father to get her to be his wife. Jacob heard what had happened but her brothers were out attending cattle, and Jacob waited to tell them until they arrived.
Shechem Speaks to Jacob
When her brothers found out what happened they were grieved and extremely angry.
Hamor went out speak with Jacob. Hamor spoke with Jacob and her brothers telling them that Shechem was in love with Dinah and asked them to agree to give her to be his wife. They thought it would be a good idea for Jacob's family to intermingle with their tribes, live and trade together in the land .
The Brothers Devise a Scheme
The brothers told Shechem and Hamor deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister they could not agree to give their sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach but they would consent if every man of them were circumcised. Then will they would give Dinah to him to marry. And they would agree to intermingle, take their daughters as wives, and dwell together and we will become one people. But if they would not agree to be circumcised; then would take her and be gone. Hamor, and Shechem were pleased with this idea.
The Circumcision
Hamor and Shechem went unto the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying, These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.
If every male among us are circumcised, as they are circumcised, their substance and every beast of theirs will be ours if we consent and they will dwell with us. After that every male in the city was circumcised.
Simeon & Levi Slay Shechem
On the third day, when they were sore, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords slew all the males including Hamor and Shechem. And they took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and left.
They Take The Spoils
They took all the spoils of the city, because they had defiled their sister. They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and whatever was in the city, the field, and all their wealth. Their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled everything that was in the house.
Jacob is Upset
Jacob said to Simeon and Levi: "You have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house." And they said, to Jacob: "Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?"
Dinah Moves to Egypt
Dinah moved to Egypt along with her family because of the famine in Canaan Genesis 46:15. If she in fact moved to Egypt I do not think she went into slavery since slavery began 30 years after all of her brothers had died.
Death of Dinah
The Bible does not state when Dinah died. Since the bible does state that she moved to Egypt then she probably died around the same time as her brothers.
Discrepancy
According to the Book of Jubilees Dinah and Bilhah died in mourning at the same time when they thought Joseph had died when his brothers betrayed him.
